When will we be seeing Quad core contained by regular laptops.?

Intel have announced that it's Quad-core processors will be available in laptops sometime subsequent year.
It is hard to utter. Maybe when they start doing server functions. There would be no reason to use them surrounded by laptops since they are stand alone units. It still will be a longtime back we see true 64 bit software available for a total system.
