Online is your best bet, unquestionably Newegg.com or do a google product search near your specifications. If your looking for an actual retail store theres CompUSA, Bestbuy, and Circuit City. If you live in CA here are Newegg stores located there.
i hold a buddy that works at best buys tech support, and he has be telling me that the hps hold been have the most problems. he has said that toshiba and macs are the best out right in a minute. you may want to look into that.



but if it has to be hp look at microcenter.com
Fry's have a refurb AMD x2, 120GB w DVDRW for $700. Only 1GB RAM but you can most likely only just get more RAM for it.
